Dan Fitzgerald GOT DEMO?
Got dirt? Got demo? Well Dan Fitzgerald has the answer. Family, friends and fans will all agree it's Got Dirt?, which is displayed on Fitzgeralds 87N IMCA modified. The title GOT DEMO?, chosen by Dan himself, will become a reality on September 25, 2010.
Dan Fitzgerald is a very well known IMCA modified driver throughout the racing community. His seat time includes sand drags, street stocks and most recently his 600th career start behind the wheel of his modified. Dan is a four time western region champion with 14 track championships under his belt, along with 177 wins in 636 starts. But one still has to question the likes of GOT DEMO?. Dan will add one more statistic to his racing resume by joining up with Gary Wyatt and JC Motorsports racing and demolition derby team. In doing so, Dan will take part in his very first demolition derby at Pahrump Valley Speedway in Wyatts 1974 Chevy stationwagon.
We asked Dan about his demo debut and he replied, "I'm really nervous but very excited since its something I've never done before. I don't have a strategy for this. I always had a strategy when I got out on a circle track, that's to keep the front bumper on my car. Now I'm going to purposely tear up my equipment and this is something I'm not use to. I'll be out of my realm."
Dan has a huge fan base, but none more so than his mom, Judy, who is also excited. She encourages him to "go for it". Dan said, "my fans will think I'm crazy, but I'm sure some will think It's funny." Dan continued on to say, "when I was asked by Gary to run one of his cars, my brain said yes, but my body said no. For me, this stems from watching and talking to long time fellow racer Levi Kiefer which ran D-Derbies." Levi Kiefer told me, " if you're not careful out there, you're going to be really sore the next day". So for one night you yourself can ask Dan, GOT DEMO?
