Kyle Busch won the pole and with a little help from his old Legends car rival, Johnson grabbed an impressive 3rd qualifying position. Nashville is a one groove track like the Bullring, so getting a good starting spot is a real bonus.

Johnson ran good for the first 100 laps, hanging around in the 4th- 6th spot and actually grabbing some bonus points for leading a lap. However, after the last round of stops he came out in 16th. There was no coverage of his stop to explain what happened. He managed to avoid one wreck and finished in 15th position. A good finish for a rookie, but probably disappointing for him after such a good qualifying run.

I haven't seen an updated owners points but it looks like both trucks are going to have to make it on time for the next race. The trucks are pretty strong and he did well this weekend so it shouldn't be an issue. Frankly I didn't think they would do as well as they have. Good job.

Johnson moved back up in the points, so he is locked into the next race at Dover. Davis would have to qualify on time, but he was only scheduled to run a few races this year and may not be there. Interestingly, Johnson could have entered the 15 truck which was locked in at Nashville, but chose to stay with the 51 and make it on time.

Turns out Johnson's crew chief opted for 4 tires which cost them about 6 spots, plus they had some issues with the fueling like several other teams. His times were as good as the leaders, but Nashville is a hard place to pass.
