SAN BERNARDINO, California — One lucky racing fan will have a chance to win $25,000 Saturday night, August 6, when 1-800LoanMart presents Crazy 8 Night at Orange Show Speedway.
"One fan will have a chance to win ,000 at Orange Show Speedway when 1-800LoanMart presents a ‘Crazy 8 Night’ of racing this Saturday "The biggest show in recent years at the ASA-sanctioned speedway will feature a full schedule of stock car racing on the historic quarter-mile oval, two Figure 8 races, a special 10-lap “DJ Race” that will be worth $800 to one spectator, a Drifting exhibition and other activities. There are added financial rewards for the drivers, too.
“It’s hard to find the words to express our appreciation to the people at 1-800LoanMart for getting involved with Orange Show Speedway,” promoter Mark Brinksma said. “Their generosity is matched only by their enthusiasm. This is the best special event I’ve ever seen put together for short-track racers and fans. Hopefully, it’s just the start of a long, enjoyable relationship.”
Gates will open at 5 p.m. and the first 500 spectators entering the speedway will receive a gift courtesy of 1-800LoanMart.
The Super Late Models, Late Models, Super Stocks, Pony Stocks, Factory Fours and Stock Cars USA will be in action on the track where racing has been conducted every year since May, 1947.
During intermission, one fan chosen at random will reach into a drum and pull out an envelope. If it is the right envelope, that fan will take home $25,000 courtesy of 1-800LoanMart. If it’s not the winning envelope, the fan will get $800 as a consolation prize.
Another $800 will go to the fan whose driver wins the DJ Race. At least six radio disc jockeys will race Stock Cars USA cars for 10 laps. Spectators will be able to put their names in an entry bin and one name will be drawn for each DJ. Whoever has the race winner will get $800.
Track announcer Greg Cozzo (KMYT 94.5 FM and Q103.3 FM) and Vic “The Brick” Jacobs (AM 570) have entered and the rest of the field will be announced soon.
Additionally, radio stations KCXX, 103.9 FM, and KFRG, 95.5 FM, both are planning to broadcast live from the speedway.
The racers haven’t been forgotten by 1-800LoanMart and California Event Management, either. There is a $1,800 bonus being offered to any driver who can post the quickest qualifying time and win the Trophy Dash and main event in the Super Late Model and Late Model classes or $800 to anyone in those classes capturing the dash and the main, provided there are at least 10 starters in the class. A Super Stock main event win will be worth $800, too, if there are 10 starters.
The two Figure 8 races will be 15-lap contests, one for the full-sized vehicles in the Stock Cars USA class and one for Factory Fours and Pony Stocks, with $100 going to each starter who completes at least 5 laps.
Admission is $15 for adults and $12 for seniors (65 and over), students (13 to 18) with identification and active military personnel with identification. Children 12 and under are admitted
