Any body interested in running a superlate on the road coase at Willow Springs next year? We will have 6-7 races, good payout Two days of some high speed fun. User friendly rules no gm crate engines. Thanks for your overwhelming support. We are up to 20 cars and drivers now. Hopefully the details will be finalized by the end of next week. When we know more we will keep you posted. Looking at pay to last place on the starting grid. Like your idea about the tow money so will keep that in consideration. Also looking into tv time. Checking into tires that will be best value for the buck and will hold up on the road course. If we all work together we can make this fly. what do you mean no crate motors??? is this another ploy to screw drivers over, to get build motors that blow up by you guys! you cry oh make it cheap but no crates?? look around! crate motors are the way to go, they dont fall apart, I like the idea about road course racing but i see this is another way of making money. also you cant tell me these built motors are better on power than crates, its proven fact that the crates beat open motors any day of the week. little mad about this deal! like i said good deal on the road racing but you gotta have crate cars too!

Thank you to everyone who has contacted us. We have had an overwhelming positive response. Thirty one drivers signed up so far. They have stated they are very happy to bring their open motors and cars they had to park when their track rules stated the could only run crate motors and or had to compete against crate motors and couldn't afford to buy one so dropped out cause they couldn't be competitive.
Please standby. We are still working on the rules which we hope to publish by next week.
By the way...what crate motor series had 31 cars running their series last year? The most Irwindale had last year was 9 cars when they used to run 30 cars before crate engines took over. There is no argument about crate horsepower. But crate motors killed car count and the numbers prove it and thats a fact.

I'm surprised there are that many guys out there that are willing to convert over to road race specs- maybe the frustration level with the Bullring has reached a peak. Just going over the changes necessary to go from an oval track late model to a road race car-
Change all your springs, re-valve the shocks, re-do the front sway bar with links on both sides, add a rear sway bar, add baffles to your fuel cell for right and left pickups, maybe get a bigger cell depending on the length of the races, increase the ducting to front brakes and add some for the rear- change brakes if your rotors are less than 12" diameter, change the clutch to a road race unit, get a good 5 speed close ratio transmission, buy a rear gear for the road course, get some new mirrors for seeing right and left, re-do your front a-arms for equal camber change on left and right turns, buy a dry sump oil system, modify your engine mounts and front cross member to drop the motor a couple of inches, modify your brake and gas pedals for heel and toe operation, move all your lead around, re-position your seat, check the transmission distance on your radios- road course needs long distance capability. There is probably a lot more that I didn't think of- then figure a couple days testing to try and get all this stuff sorted out, do some work on the old trailer for that long tow and go road racing!

You cannot be serious! You and LVMS killed the car counts with expensive tires and increasing entry fees and fuel costs!
If LVMS would have listened to the other racers and stayed with the 970s we would still have 25 cars every event!
You and Scotty “SLM38” convinced them to go to a tire that most cannot afford and only last one event! ”tour tire”
If you want to blame anyone for the reduced car counts look in the mirror! “Greedy”
FYI, Irwindale had 15 cars last event and also have plans to change their tire and rules next year!

Before speculating on changes wait until the rules come out...please...otherwise it will cost you a lot of money with hearsay. If you truly have questions call Steve 702-281-1022 before you make any changes.
Change all your springs --> minor changes as you did at your home track using the springs you have
re-valve the shocks --> bump stops and coil binding not permitted allowing for easier set-ups
re-do the front sway bar with links on both sides --> Add a solid link to the left side
add a rear sway bar --> not legal
add baffles to your fuel cell --> most fuel cells have foam in them so just move the fuel pick-up to the center
Maybe get a bigger cell depending on the length of the races --> 15 gal is fine. only 20 lap race.
increase the ducting to front brakes and add some for the rear- change brakes if your rotors are less than 12" diameter --> the track record holder and multi-feature winner never ran any ever --> existing brakes, calipers and rotors that the superlates are running will be in effect. Absolutely no high dollar brake systems.
change the clutch to a road race unit, get a good 5 speed close ratio transmission --> the current clutch systems will work just fine. No five speed trannies allowed. Jerichos and T-10s only. No high dollar transmissions with overdrive
buy a rear gear for the road course --> yes ring and pinion change
get some new mirrors for seeing right and left --> not necessary you should have plenty already.
re-do your front a-arms for equal camber change on left and right turns --> yes left side suspension changes
buy a dry sump oil system --> If you can afford it fine, if not road race wet sumps will work and an accusump.
modify your engine mounts and front cross member to drop the motor a couple of inches --> must remain in the standard location as per superlate model rules no changes.
modify your brake and gas pedals for heel and toe operation --> not necessary jerichos shift just fine without a clutch
move all your lead around, re-position your seat --> yes cars will be required to run 51% left
check the transmission distance on your radios--> most radios work just fine there
There is probably a lot more that I didn't think of- then figure a couple days testing to try and get all this stuff sorted out--> two free test session prior to the racing season starting. After that there will be no testing allowed.
do some work on the old trailer for that long tow and go road racing --> its about time you put your trailer in shape anyway whether it be for the short or the long tow. A lot of the guys are already traveling to Irwindale, Blythe, Havasu, and Salt Lake.
We're giving you a couple of months to prepare your cars. First race end of March beginning of April 6-7 races. Once a month. Gives plenty of time to fix or prepare cars. Remember we are trying to keep this simple and hope that this information helps.

I have to agree with team21 here. You must be sheltered there in vegas aweeeee hahaha! lets see crates motors... are powerful to make a huge statement in the dirt late models here in california. There are a few drivers running the ct525 crate engine and they are doing very well and winning against big built motors!! Listen American Racing! I dont like your parts that you sell because you jack up the price on everything! Nor do I like those crappy engines you build! You guys play favoritism toward drivers and if it doesnt benefit you then you dont want to bother with it. The bullring has gotten very expensive because of jerks like you running the prices up on everything!!!! then you wonder why the bullring has such a crappy car count. If you would open your eyes a little bit and look around pavement racing has gone down everywhere and with orange show closed up I dont see very many racers racing next season. oh yes irwindale did have an average car count of 15 last year, not good but better than the bullring. Also the drivers running the crate motors do like it. Oh yes it does put a dampner on engine builders like you in a bad situation! GM Performance knows there stuff, they dont drop valves or break a crank like yours! SO NEXT TIME YOU WANT TO START A PROGRAM BE FAIR ABOUT IT AND MAKE IT POSSIBLE FOR EVERYONE! I really dont see no 31 drivers racing in this series either. good luck on it though, but its not gunna happen.

I have a simple solution for the 3 of you, just stay home! It's that simple!
If you want to race conform to the rules or don't go. I see Steve point about the motors, some of us run the vegas spec motor and lets face it we are making what 400hp to the rear tire. No way that can compete with the ct525 be for real.
Do us all a favor and stay home you sound like a bunch of whinny b!tches anyway.

PR What super late do you drive?
I guess the extra 250lbs, 6600rpm limit and max gear of 5.28 wasn't enough for you to beat a crate engine?
FYI, the local guys didn't get beat by crate engines! They are called SRL tour cars.
I am sure that if Steve Rez has his way you will all be buying dry sump tour engines, tires and fuel from American racing and Universal engine/machine.
He is a big part of why the car count is low at Vegas. If everyone remembers this isn't the first time he ran up the engine costs IE 90s with the big bore/short stroke dry sump engines.
This is why Rick Keller came up with the idea of a spec engine. Its original cost was less than 7k. It is failing because LVMS refuses to enforce their own rules. In addition they keep raising gate fees, tire expenses and fuel costs.
For years people like Steve Rez, Scotty Gaf, Howard "Vegas machine" are all focused on how they can beat each other on race day instead of what was really best for the sport and their businesses. If the cars are parked who is buying parts, engines or tires?
Isn't it amazing how history keeps repeating it self!

PR your dumb! a ct525 can and will beat your motor any time of day! We have a few dirt late model drivers that run that crate motor and do win against 600hp motors! get a clue and get your resouces straight before you sound like a total retard! you must be another bullring sheltered person who doesnt know anything about racing!!
