What's the deal with the 602 crate motor? can a car be competitive in this division with the 602? If not who's building the best motors and how much should be budgeted for an engine in this division?

Mario won championship 5-6 years ago with a crate motor. Last one I know of that had any success. Crate motor will do ok, but won't keep you up with top few.

Simply put: No you can not be competitive in the super stocks with a 602 anymore. If you have one then spend the money and turn it into a vortec head open motor. If not then all the fast guys are running steel head open motors with the good intakes.
