Kyle Busch enters Super Late Model Thanksgiving Classicby Matt Weaver November 29, 2019 The reigning NASCAR Cup Series champion isn’t quite ready to hang up his helmet in 2019 yet. Kyle Busch has entered the Super Late Model portion of Saturday’s Thanksgiving Classic at the Southern National Motorsports Park in Lucama, North Carolina. This will be his first appearance of any kind at the four-tenths mile short track. Busch turned laps in his Super Late Model earlier in the week at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, Florida in advance of the Snowball Derby in the car he has entered for driver Chandler Smith. He tested his No. 51 on Friday at Southern National. The two-time Cup Series champion has previously fielded cars at Southern National for Christopher Bell and Raphael Lessard. He also attended the CARS Tour debut event in March 2015, which was held at Southern National, while he was rehabbing his broken leg and foot suffered in the season-opening NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Daytona International Speedway. The Super Late Model portion of the Thanksgiving Classic is sanctioned by the Pretoria Racing Alliance. The main event on Saturday is a 150-lap Late Model Stock race. Green flag for racing will come at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.
