Just saw the registration form showing that all the pits over by the grandstand entrance will be given to Bandoleros. Reasoning was about safety, which was probably a good idea. However, I wonder if they considered all those guys who have pitted together for years and have a sort of community atmosphere built up where people share tools and help etc. Rumor is that 5 or 6 long time veteran teams will not renew stalls at all and may not race in 2010. The pit stall issue is one reason, and the tire rule is the other- the 970 tire rule kept a lot of guys going last year who would not have raced because of the cost of the slicks. I did a little research and here are some stats from 2009- Opening night 24 cars Last event 15 cars Average over the year 19 cars
Only 6 drivers made every event- Can you name them?

I also inquired with the track about the pit stall issue. I was told there intention was to not break up families, father racing in another division, etc. and they are re-thinking the pit stall issue.
As far as car count goes, opening night will be full, cars will start to dwindle when they have to start purchasing tires.

Wonder why they don't think it through before they decide to change something.

Well I can clear up the pit stall issue. They have recinded their decision. It's a good idea but it would not have done what they intended. Here's the email I received back from Mike after I wrote an email stating my concerns:
"We have reconsidered the decision and are keeping the pits as they were, we are the ONLY track that allows kids under the age of 14 in our pits, It was not just because we wanted to change, our insurance plays a big part on the policy we have in our pits. Never the less, it has been withdrawn. thanks for your input."
So I hope this will set this topic to rest at least for now.

ANDERSON CONNORS EWING GAFFORINI GIANNINI TAYLOR I hear they didn't bother to notify anyone of the reversal in the pit stall rule- if you didn't call or e-mail them your were simply SOL.

Never the less, it has been withdrawn. Otherwise we couldn't dedicate 1/2 of every event to the INEX cars. thanks for your input." So I hope this will set this topic to rest at least for now. Funny... I didn't think Anderson or Taylor ran the full season, guess I was wrong. I can't remember the last time old man Anderson has run a full season (usually misses 2 or 3 races a year) and I know his kid hardly ever runs anymore at all (usually races only 2 or 3 races a year).
An even more important question then who ran the full season last year is who will run the full season this year? I am sure it will be even less then those 6 from last year.

I know they changed their minds on this and went back to the way it has been for years with the pits, but I just cannot let the comment made in an earlier post that "Rumor is that 5 or 6 long time veteran teams will not renew stalls at all and may not race in 2010". You have got to be kidding right??? Not race because they can't have their pit stall?? The tire rule and the financial piece I understand, but because of a pit stall?? Sounds like "I am taking my ball and going home!"

I don't know either as it was only a rumor and the rumors do fly when it comes to the bullring and racing.
Either you haven't been at the track very long or you may have missed the point that people are fed up with just being pushed around and kicked in the ass by the track. Let's face it, some decisions made by the track have a LARGE impact on teams that are just barely scrapping enough money together to race at all. This was just another example of "if you don't like it, go race somewhere else".
I personally think it's extremely unfair that the track would consider this type of move without consulting those that it effects. What upset people was that they have worked years for to get multiple pit stalls side by side for either their teams and or friends. In many cases individual teams work together to help each other out and put on the best race possible for the fans.
The tracks position was to just kick all those people to the curb without so much as a "by the way". They were told they could get stalls that were vacant or would have to wait until after the registration peoriod to see what was left.
Now, if you were not effected, then I can see your point, it seems like no be deal. Now look at the other side and see the impact it would have created under the pretext of pit safety for the Bando's. Great idea but it would have done nothing as the bando's would still be traveling though the big car areas.
I think the resentment is that the track makes many decisions without consulting those it effects and without even considering the inpact on the teams.
We have one of the best tracks around but many people feel the track doesn't care about the teams that come week after week to support it.
With that said, I do appaud the track officals for reconsidering.
