It doesn't look so bad here. The race in Irwindale had record low car counts, 14 SLM, 10 trucks and 6 S2. It will be interesting to see how it pans out but word from the feeder karting series is that entries there are down more than 50% with Region 7 IKF canceling the first race in years due to low entries. Looks like it might be a tough year again.

Roland did Stafford change his mind about letting you run a shorter car? Interesting about the CS count at TSI. Last year they only had 18 all year compared to 32 all year in Bomber and only about 6 of the CS guys ran every race. The average per race was 10.3 cars at Irwindale. With the same rules last year as this year. You have to go back 5 years to find a car count of 30 in that class. Interesting you post 35 pre entries which is almost twice what they had all year and 3 1/2 times what the average was last year. But here is the strange part, you claim 35 pre registered yet in the first CS race of the season April 3 there were 8 cars. Where are these 27 cars coming from? You sure you got the right track and the right class?

That is mature..."I hope the track closes"..... If you don't like it, why do you let it dominate you life and drive you to compare it to other tracks. Why don't you just do what others have done and go race at these other tracks that are so much better than LVMS. I tell you, I have never heard so much whining about an organization in my life! Just move on to some where else if the grass is that much greener.
Car counts are down at every track across the country when compared to 3 years ago. Also, try and remember that race tracks are a business, not a charitable institution, they need to make money also or they will not be around.
I am going to go out on a limb and venture to guess you voted Obama in the last election....You certainly sound like you feel entitled to things on your terms and for others to lose money so that you will be happy!

I wouldn't characterize my concern for car counts as whining. Knocking a few bucks off the entry isn't going to get anyone out. Even in a Bomber if your budget is so close that 20 bucks makes or breaks your weekend then you probably shouldn't be racing and should sit in the stands and have dollar beer and dogs. The southwest was hit pretty hard by the economy and until things get better participation is going to be less than it was.
To imply that the Bullring will close is fantasy. It's owned by a multi billion dollar corporation that is the second largest operator of race tracks in the world. Couple that with the NASCAR connection and the fact SMI basically owns the INEX concept and the Bullring is not going anywhere. There may be fewer dates and classes but one advantage they over PVS or Havasu, or even Irwindale is they have deep pockets and can feed this for as long as it takes to recover.

Were you aware that Wall Stadium opened again more than a year ago? And they race about three times a month during the season. Milwaukee has had issues for years. It's a state owned facility that has been in need of renovations for the last decade and the last outside promoter lost a bunch of money and couldn't pay NASCAR what he owed them. Memphis closed because Dover wants to consolidate and they knew they couldn't get a Memphis Cup date. Gulf Coast was going to buy it but they couldn't get the financing and it's not likely they'll get the financing to build Alabama Motorsport park either. FWIW I've been to both Wall and Milwuakee. Your examples are misrepresented and poorly researched.
By "SER" could you mean the 10K or the 10Q filed with the SEC? I do follow TRK, enough to know that they don't break down the specific properties. I'm curious to see where you got your numbers considering the specious nature of some of the data you've already provided in this thread. Your assertion directly contradict SMI filings. We know that while the Cup numbers are down at LVMS, it's one of the most popular tracks in the SMI portfolio but also of the series. SMI did take a beating on the Motorsports Authentics investment but as a whole the company is solid. They ended the year with about $100 mil in cash and about $1.5 bil in assets. I don't see them bulldozing the Bullring.

Guy you need to look at the big picture.
IRP run stock cars almost every weekend, they have never combined classes to get cars.
The late models and super late models rotate weekends. If IRP combined classes they would have over 30 car each event!
I think several teams are like us we are waiting till the double mains. Everyone receives twice the monies.

Based on what you've posted Roland I doubt you do understand. Bumper stickers, key chains and ride alongs? Are you serious? The money is in sponsorship and exclusive supplier deals not a bunch of low end chotchkies. As long as there is INEX there will be racing at the Bullring.
Yeah Bill and if my aunt had testicles she would be my uncle. Combining of classes is not relevant to the discussion. There were 35 SLMs at the 1st TSI race last year. Clearly the economy has hindered some plans but I also understand there is a new LS3 crate package that the track said in a press release could have been a factor. Regardless, I think it's pretty surprising the count is that far down. Conversely, I didn't think they would have as many SLMs at the Bullring as they did. But I also expected fewer Chargers and more Bombers. Times are still tough for many and I think the counts reflect that.

Looks like we got us a colloquium here. I like it. Lots of information exchange. I think those, who run the Bullring, could stand a little constructive criticism. They do seem to be a bit promotaphobic. We know that there are things that could be done to improve car counts and attendance. I am sure that everyone has some suggestions to make.
There are some corporate restraints to consider, which I am sure most of us do not understand. But, as well as venting on this message board, anyone can email John Bisci at jbisci@lvms.com or Chris Blair cblair@lvms.com with suggestions and concerns. If you haven't, you should. I have, and I saw a small change or two.
I happen to like the autograph session before every race at Havasu. The fans can interact with the drivers and crew and touch the cars. They have a good fan base there. It's a small thing, but something that they should consider doing at the Bullring. Guess I'll email Bisci right now.

Yeah, because it sucks ass that they had an autograph session on the night the bombers weren't included.

Roland, I've raced at Havasue once this year, but it's a long day few Bomber drivers will put up with on a regular basis. No matter if the rules were identical and the seasons didn't overlap I'd have a hard time atending all races at both tracks. With leaving in the morning and returning at 4 am or making it into a 2 day affair, it's just far enough away to make it improbable that we could enjoy many visiting drivers on a regular basis.
When I was there I saw a whole lotta 16" low profile sports car tires, spools and 488 gears on the old cars. They must have changed the way they enforce the rule again on tires. I also didn't see any 15 inch 70 series tires on the late model cop cars that day.
