HAVASU 95 SPEEDWAY IS ROLLING IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION AS
AN ASA MEMBER TRACK
03/05/2010 By American Speed Association PR
DAYTONA BEACH, FL (Friday, March 5, 2010) - When you talk to Bill Rozhon, Promoter of
Havasu 95 Speedway, an ASA Member Track in Lake Havasu City, AZ, you will find
someone who is proud of what they have accomplished in four years of operation of the
1/4-mile track. Including a great relationship with the city.
“The city has embraced the track and is very supportive,” Rozhon exclaimed. “The track is
located at the SARA (Special Activities and Recreation Area) Park which is about 1,100
acres that includes the Raceway, softball and baseball fields, hiking trails, BMX track, dog
park, and a shooting range. It’s in a great area and is truly a sports lovers paradise.”
With the hot weather they have in the summer, Havasu 95 Speedway runs their season from
September to May. This year, the weather has been unusual which has helped and hurt the
track, “The weather has hurt us the last few weeks and it has kept some of the fans away but
we are doing pretty well,” Rozhon said. “Our car count has been doing very well and the
racing has been great.”
Their Saturday night racing program varies from week to week where you could find Late
Models, Street Stock, Bandoleros, Modifieds, Factory Stocks, and Powder Puffs racing.
Rozhon keeps a close eye on the late models when they compete, “My 16-year-old
granddaughter, Shelby Orozco, does a lot of our press releases and flyers. But she is racing
in our Late Model model division,” Rozhon said. “I also have my 13-year-old grandson,
Jeremy Orozco running in the bandoleros. So this is truly a family sport.”
Shelby is currently fourth in points while Jeremy is sixth in bandoleros.
The hot shoe at Havasu is veteran driver Ralph Adams who goes out and typically beats
other drivers half his age, “He is still winning races and the funny thing is that he offers advice
to our young drivers and I don’t think they listen to him because he still goes out and beats
them,” Rozhon said with a chuckle.
Rozhon also is happy to work with ASA, “We have a great relationship with ASA. Dennis
(Huth, ASA President) has been a great asset to us,” he said. “Anytime we have a question,
Dennis always puts whatever he is doing aside to listen and help us. This is our fourth year of
running Havasu and his help has been valuable. I have been telling other tracks to talk to
ASA, it’s the best thing for short tracks.”
“Havasu 95 Speedway is located in a beautiful area and it has gained a great fan support, as
they make it a weekly ritual to go there,” Dennis Huth, ASA President said. “It is a happening
place with the awesome racing action. They provide the finest racing entertainment to the
fans who live in the area and the snowbirds who sneak away from the North in the winter. We
are proud to have them as an ASA Member Track.”
The most scenic 1/4 mile asphalt track in the Southwest, Havasu 95 Speedway is located in
Lake Havasu City, Arizona. Lake Havasu City is located along the Colorado River
approximately 20 miles south of Interstate 40. Lake Havasu City is approximately 180 miles
northwest of Phoenix, AZ, 150 miles south of Las Vegas, and 45 miles south of Bullhead
City, AZ and Laughlin, NV.
