Mullis edges Allison at The Speedway at Willow Springs

Fourth of seven Late Model Truck Series events is near photo finish
Veteran drivers Stan Mullis and Mark Allison gave fans at The Speedway at Willow Springs in Rosamond, California, a thrill to remember on Saturday night.
The Late Model Truck Series race came down to the wire, with Mullis edging Allison by a nose to take his first checkered flag of the season. Mullis, the series’ defending points champion, held off a charging Allison—a two-time LMTS points champion himself—after Allison had battled his way through lapped traffic and push Mullis to the limit.
“Wow, what a finish,” said series co-manager Mike Riefler, who finished fifth. “It was the closest finish in Late Model Truck Series history, and Gary Wyatt and I couldn’t be happier for the fans who came out to see our talented drivers put on a show. It was a treat to be back in Rosamond, and we can’t wait to take the trucks back to The Bullring for the Night of Fire.”
Saturday’s 35-lap feature was the first for LMTS at The Speedway at Willow Springs since Allison won there on Oct. 12, 2019. Mullis now has three LMTS career victories and looks to challenge Allison for the 2022 points race with three events remaining.
The series returns to action on Sunday, July 3, as part of one of the most celebrated events in the Southwest region—the Night of Fire at The Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The event will be streamed live on www.Floracing.com.
