Last night's modified show was like in the old days. 28 cars started and a great battle up front all night long between Phipps and Gerchman. The race was run mostly under green except for the 69 car who caused 3 or 4 cautions before being escorted off the track. It looked like some of the alchohol cars just couldn't get enough fuel in the tank for the full event and fell out toward the end, including leader Phipps. Gerchman went on to claim the win with local favorites " Hound-Dawg" Hamm coming home 3rd and Tom Lovelady 4th. LVMS sure made a huge mistake when they took these guys off the weekly schedule in favor of those Thunder Roadsters.

I agree, it was great to see the mods back out there. There were always my favorite class as weel. But, my understanding was that they pulled them from the schedule due to not getting any committments from drivers to run the full schedule. I heard they only got 5-6 drivers that would committ so they dropped them.....But that is just what I heard I am sure some one who was in the class my know the real reason....

Another great show put on by the mods last night. Pretty much clean racing all around with the normal amount of cautions. The red # 10 car seemed to have it all his way for most of the night, leaving Hound Dawg Hamm and Gerchman to put on a great battle for 2nd. Both would go out with mechanical problems. The star of the show was young Dylan Kwasnewski in the # 3 car out of Chris Bray's shop. He qualified 4th, but the invert put him in the back on the start. He got caught up in a deal on the first lap and had to go to the rear. He showed a lot of talent and maturity as he worked his way from last to 2nd and looked to have something for the leader, nearly getting by on the last re-start. However, it looked as though his climb through the field had used up his tires and he came across the line with a well deserved 2nd place.

Great Mod racing last night. Too bad we don't see them more than twice a year. Bullring is too cheap to pay and get them to race here!
