In behalf of EVERYONE at DEATH VALLEY RACEWAY, our fans and fellow racers. We want to say THANK YOU to all of you Bomber guys for putting on a AWESOME SHOW!! You guys ARE THE BOMB!! We had a new corner flagman that you guys had running in circles. He kept thinking he needed to run out with that yellow flag when you guys would bounce off the walls or each other. Or when you were spinning in circles in the middle of the track as cars passed on the top and the bottom. We just kept telling him, RELAX..cause their going to keep going. He just kept scratching his head and you could see on his face he must of thought you guys were all crazy. The fans were on their feet cheering and laughing. There is no doubt in my mind that you guys made your mark with the race fans. We cant wait until you guys make it back and hope you all enjoyed yourselves as much as we enjoyed having you.

The bombers are the greatest of all the cars. The only thing worse about this track is that they CHARGE 25 dollars for a 1 year old baby. At least Pahrump didn't do that!!!!! I think they need to change that, and until then, we and a few others will not return to DVR.

They do that LVMS in the pit area also. It doesn't matter how old you are - just that you are a warm body and bingo $$$. Its all about money.

Hello GUEST. We at Death Valley Raceway TOTALLY agree that charging ANY child a full pit pass price sucks. The track owners fought that one big time! Sadly that is not our choice but the requirements of our insurance. Insurance companys do not like having kids under 14 in the pits and hope the full price will discourage parents from bringing them in. When I take my 2 boys to Mohave, Tonopah or Las Vegas, I too am not thrilled when paying that amount but thats the reason the tracks WITH insurance do it. As for Pahrump not charging the full price. There was no record of any insurance at the Speedway once the sanction was dropped and personally, I wont step foot on any track that doesnt carry insurance. Thats too big a risk to take with our kids. P.S FYI- Kids are FREE in the stands at DVR . Thats where I keep mine LOL

LVMS gave the same lame excuses, but a baby that is 1 month old and being pushed around in a stroller somehow doesn't seem to be any kind of risk! You don't know that any track has insurance - they are under no obligation to show you that information even if you ask.

Liziesmom I have to agree with Deathvalley.the one month in a stoller is at risk, ( hit by a race car moving around in the pits). I have worked for management before and do for a fact know that the insurance compary don't like kids in the pit's. It would far be better for the young one in the grand stands. Just stop and think about it. Don't get me wrong I love kids, but one of my bigges fear is hitting a running kid in the pit. Try and look at it from a drive's point of view.

Lame excuse? Its not the baby...its the drivers. The last year I raced in Pahrump, I took a hit on the track to the right front one night. I went to exit the track and could barely steer and as I was heading through the fans, kids and dogs walking through the pits. A dog ran in front of me with a kid in chase. The last thing a driver is thinking about is a kid or a dog when heading to his pit. I hit the brake to miss the kid in the loose gravel and the car tugged a hard left and I almost had 3 people on my hood. Thats something I wouldnt want to live with and insurance companys dont want to deal with. I have also watched pissed drivers exit the track at way to fast speeds and have seen incredible near misses. 1 hit could close a track forever. Ive seen air lines blow, fires, guys flying on quads in the dark ect. Guys coming off the track with no brakes. Cars crashing other cars when fired up. Not ONE racers is thinking about a kid in a stroller. Its not the park. Keep in mind it wasnt long ago we had a white pants dress codes in the pits and there were NO fans allowed in the pits. Just officials, crews and drivers. Now everyone feels babys and animals need to be in a place that can be 50 times more dangerous then a hard hat area in a construction site. Its been VERY hard for the D.V.R owners to keep the insurance costs under a $1000.00 a race being in a rural area and to me thats a rape cost for a mom and pop track. One of the replys from the insurance company to D.V.R was if we were allowed to reduce our prices to a comfortable entry for all the fans. Then there would be no need for us to have stands because everyone would prefer the pits for a couple bucks more. I still agree that paying the $25 is not pleasant but at least the pit gate money goes back to the racers and thats a positive thing. You also pay only a buck for water or soda instead of the Vegas $4 and you can get a few hotdogs for the $7 you would pay in Vegas. I have raced at many race tracks in the years and visited many more and I for one think D.V.R has been quite fair across the board and I find it a little unfair to place the " lame excuse" label on them for something the insurance companys control. Thats just my 2 cents. OH, P.S FYI NO track running a sanctioned event like we do at D.V.R can race ANY event without PRIOR proof of insurance.

so drop the rates for kids under 2 instead of the 25.00.........I understand the insurance part, drop the rates and still sign the release. If you come up with an excuse then, well, then we KNOW its about the money! And as far as FREE in the stands, well, most of the kids in the pits belong to drivers, WHICH, I believe are whats giving your track a fair go at it!!!! Families of racers are VERY IMPORTANT!!!!!!!!!!!!! But if you feel the need to rake a child that you DON't have to worry about being hit because they are too little to run around, it just proves greed!

wow.....I am blown away by the audacity of racefans comments. Sorry sister, but you are WAY of base on this one.
There is NO PLACE FOR CHILDREN IN THE PIT AREA!!! As folks have said, this is NOT A SOCIAL CLUB. As wonderful and fun as racing is; it is also a dangerous sport. I would NEVER EVER put my children in a situation where there is the potential for danger. We go to visit our families and friend in the pits AFTER the racing is OVER ...to ensure my childrens' safety. You can be the most cautious parent in the world, but sometimes, poopoo happens and then when it does, you are going to be that parent screaming LAWSUIT.
As mentioned before; if you don't like the pit prices, then haul yourself and your kids on over to the stands with the rest of the fans, where kids ARE free. I think DVR is extremely fair in their prices. Try getting a dollar soda or hotdog at themovie theater. It is good family fun for a relatively inexpensive price. And I have to say the folks running the show at DVR are very sweet people and only have ALL of our best interests at heart. Bottom line is: it is about racing and putting ona good show for the fans. Not having a "social gathering" in the pit area.
I have a teen who wants to race but due to rules and regulations has to wait until he is 14. And guess what?? we are COOL with that and not pontificating or becoming histronic because he can't. He ALSO doesn't go into thepit area until AFTER the races are over.
Perhaps you should rewire your way of thinking you are not seeing the big picture.

racefan guest - I agree with you 100%. The bottom line is always about money. Somehow when a month old baby is in a stroller or in the baby's father's teams trailer, it is a bit hard to imagine the baby is going to cause many problems. But you never know, kids today seem to "age" quickly.

I have. When I was a kid, i saw another kid get run over by a sprint car( i was watching from the stands on the front stretch). My kids love the racetracks, from the stands.Afterwards, they join me in the pits. The pit area is NO place for kids.

Hmmmm. Guess some folks can't read, they can only write. It's kinda like trying to learn something without sutting up long enough to listen. racefan Guest and lizziesmom Guest, what part of not wanting kids, or anyone in the pits, who doesn't need to be there, do you not understand? How about dangerous? Do you understand that? I think Quick Rick did an admirable job of explaining it to you. You did read what he wrote, didn't you? If not, then try it. I got it the first time I read it. lizziesmom Guest, what difference does it make to you anyway? You said previously that you don't like dirt track racing.

We bring our 14 month old into the pits because it's what we have to do at the moment, with his Dad racing, and with me starting to as well. While it sucks to have to pay for me, the driver and the baby, it is understood that it's just something we HAVE to do, it's part of getting to race every weekend. Yes, it's not cheap but I'd rather pay than NOT pay to a track that has NO liability insurance. Not just for my sake and family's safety, but for EVERYONE'S safety.
