The Vision team continued it's dominating performance at Irwindale last night. Justin Johnson took the pole, and led every lap for his 6th win of the season. Teammate Dusty Davis came home 6th. Johnson now leads the season points chase by 34 points over 2nd place Davis. They will have a 2 week break in the Superlate schedule and plan to concentrate on preparing their K&N west cars for the next event in that series.

The Super Lates returned to Irwindale last night for twin mains with an impressive 23 car field. Vision's Dusty Davis took top qualifying spot with Justin Johnson 5th. At the start of the 1st main there was some exciting 3 wide racing and Davis ended up shuffled back to about 6th spot. Johnson made up some gound quickly to move to third. Andy Allen, returning to the track for the first time since the opening, grabbed first and battled Louis Martinez Jr. side by side for the lead. Johnson played the points game and resisted any aggressive move to get by the leaders and settled for 3rd. Allen took the win over Martinez and Davis worked his way back into 4th at the end. For the second main Johnson's crew chief, Chuck Wahl, made some adjustments and at the start Johnson grabbed the lead and once again led every lap to finish a full straightaway ahead of 2nd place. Davis finished 7th. Johnson's 7th win of the season extends his points lead over teamate Davis with Partridge now a distant 3rd.

Wooooooooooooo.
Only one question - what do you mean they "dominated Irwindale"? Do you know the definition of dominate? You may want to change your choice of words.

The Vision steamroller continues to flatten everything in its path. Justin Johnson swept both mains at Irwindale this weekend. A solid 24 car field was entered , with K&N East series star Jason Patison taking the top qualifying spot. Johnson was 4th with Sergio Pena 5th and Dusty Davis 6th. Other Las Vegas drivers Alex Haase and Joe Farre were also entered. Pena had made a big splash at the Showdown in January and has been a regular in the K&N series. If he and Patison thought this would be easy pickings, they were in for a surprise. In the first race, Johnson started 4th and on the first lap jumped to second and shadowed leader Andy Allen for the first 30 laps. Johnson then dropped back and it appeared he was going to settle for 2nd place, but it was all a con game. On lap 36 Johnson dove inside Allen and cleared him for the lead- Allen was in shock and tried to come back, but lost it in turn 3 and Johnson cruised home for the win. Second went to Partridge who returned with that big power crate motor and predicted he would win both mains. Patison was 3rd, followed by Pena, King , Dusty Davis and Farre. Haase did not complete the first lap and finished 21st. In the second main Pena and Johnson started on the front row and Johnson grabbed the lead right away. An embarrassed Andy Allen charged back and took the lead on lap 4, but Johnson was again playing the strategy game and on lap 11 he passed Allen and led the rest of the way for the win. King finished 2nd, followed by Pena 3rd, Dusty Davis in 4th with Allen 5th and Partridge 6th. Joe Farre was 13th while Haase did not make the 2nd event. The Vision team with Veteran crew chief Chuck Wahl on the box and Johnson behind the wheel are impressing a lot of people with their smart calls and winning strategy. The K&N teams will sit up and take note when the Vision hauler pulls into Phoenix in November.

So, now on top of being a Vision Air(head) minion, you're now a pyschic? Or are you sitting in Johnson's lap during the race so you can know what he's thinking? I'm sure you wiggle around there and try to get a bit of "joy". You are quite the tool.

The Vision freight train continues to high ball along as Justin Johnson picked up his 10th win last night and his second series of 4 in a row wins. Teamate Dusty Davis came home 5th. Ryan Partridge came out again with the crate motor that the Irwindale folks have been promoting for next year. They have a big power to weight advantage over the spec motors and Partridge qualified on the pole with Johnson 4th and Davis 5th. At the start Partridge took the lead followed by King and Johnson, while Davis dropped back to 7th. Partridge and King fought for the lead for the first 21 laps while Johnson stalked them in 3rd. On lap 22 Johnson saw his chance and slid into 2nd and started the mind game on Partridge. Johnson wore a hole in Partridge's rear view mirror over the next 20 laps while planning his move. On lap 43 he made the pass and cruised home for the win. Davis moved into 5th at the line. Points wise, Johnson and Davis only need to take the green for the next race to lock up a 1-2 sweep of the Irwindale series. Nationally, Johnson has the best ratio of starts to wins, but won't be able to take that title because many of those southern guys will have over 50 starts from which to choose their best 18.

Vison Air congrats on your 10th win.
Top five stop talking crap about the new CT525 engine. You have no idea what you are talking about! Do your research and then try to make an educated comment!
The vision air team have a great engine program! "The best money can buy". I am sure if they where getting beat by engines they would have the spec CT525 by the following week!

The CT525 requires changes to fit it into most chassis- The Vision people are just about finished at Irwindale, with the championship in hand, they are moving on to the West series next year, so they need to stay with their engine builder. For those who plan to be Irwindale regulars, they will need to make the chassis changes and buy the CT525 or be back markers. BTW- Vision has 12 wins- Johnson 10, Davis 2
PS- Billy- Congratulations on your improved spelling and punctuation. Taking the season off to enroll in some night classes has improved the average IQ of the Bullring and your school in 1 clever move.

Topfive,
Again you show your ignorance, the Coronado students and I put one of the CT525 spec engines in the school car. We have been testing it LVMS. There are no big mods to install them into Portcity Chassis. KRC makes the front engine mounts that bolt right in and they use the same rear mounts.
You can not tell me the Ford engines that Vison are running are down on power. The CT525 makes good horsepower but because of the RPM limits it doesn't have the same pull off the corners.
Again congrats to the Vison team, I wish them the best.
As for you stop making comments about things you know nothing about!

Billy- You need to read slowly and more carefully. I was talking about power to weight ratio. The Irwindale management has been pushing this engine on the competitors by adjusting the car weight to give it an advantage. There are some behind the scenes deals as usual between the management and the motor suppliers. It has driven some of the Irwindale regulars over to Orange Show. If they wanted to help the competitors in this tough economy, they could have run one of the low cost crate motors and adjusted the car weights to make it competitive with the expensive spec engines, then allowed the teams a year to wind down the spec engine program and switch over to the crate motors.

Topfive,
Again you have no idea what you are talking about.
The CT525 engine package cost $11,500. The invoice we received with the engine itemizes everything. The engine package is complete with Stewart pump, billet pulleys, alternator, 650 HP carb, carb spacer, MSD controller with plug and play harness. The only thing we bought where Howe headers at $250.
The engine is Dynoed and broken in full of oil when you receive the engine. The cost of the engine from GM is only $7500 and if a guy wants he can provide the engine to Bill Maropolis. There is a huge difference between the quality and engineering of a LS engine and a 604 crate engine! They are built to last!
Originally IRP made the CT525 cars weight an extra 50lbs at the beginning of the year. Now everyone must weigh 3000lbs. They have also allowed us to run a 4.62 or a 4.5 to help in traffic.
The engine is only designed to run 6700RPM! The power to weight ratio is plain BS! How much power and torque do you think the $22K Ford engines are making? How many RPM do they turn? at min a 7800rpm with 5.28 gear
IRP bought into everyone crying when they first allowed the engine. Now that is has been in competition for a season they are seeing the reality! How many Teams have won or finished in the top 5.
We have found that the engine is competitive if we keep the RPMs up and on the chip, but if you get into traffic or your tires fade or track conditions change, the engine doesn't have enough torque to pull the low RPMs off the corner!
As for cars going to Orange show either the teams are miss informed or didn't like Irwindale to begin with. How many Supers are racing at IRP? How many at Orange show? Other cost factors are, tires, fuel, entry fees or schedule conflicts.
I don't know who you are "because you hide behind a screen name" but stop making personal attacks or ignorant comments about factors you know nothing about!
DONE!
