It's like christmas came early this year. Billy, the idiot and Topfive, the Vision air brown nose, duking it out. It's like a battle for control of the short bus.
Billy, why are you so knowledgable about an engine when your car hasn't made a single lap in competition ALL YEAR!!!! Are you counting your spin in turn 4 as a full lap? Missed it by 30 feet, Genius. By the way, next time an invert puts you on the frontrow, don't race the first lap like its the last. IDIOT!

By the way, next time an invert puts you on the frontrow, don't race the first lap like its the last. IDIOT! The word around Irwindale is that certain management officials get a kickback from Maropoulos on these motors. No big surprise. People say that for a price they will massage the ignition box for you to get another 500 rpm. Also no big surprise. Its the same old problem with all sealed motor, single source deals, those in the know will get the best of the stuff. As far as cost goes, beyond the 11,500.00 for the motor, add another 950.00 sales tax, new motor mounts, electric fuel pump and special wiring harness, gear, clutch, headers, new air cleaner and a bunch of small stuff, then wear out some tires testing your new setup and gear etc. The changeover will cost a SLM owner about 15000.00. That's for the off the street motor- you want to win, better be prepared to get the better version of the equal motor.

Justin Johnson clinched the Irwindale Super Late championship on a bit of a down note last night. He posted a third and fourth place finish, his 2 worst finishes of the year. On the upside, Dusty Davis picked up his 3rd win of the season, giving Vision Airlines 13 wins out of 19 events for the year. Vegas drivers Casey Kingsland and Joe DeGueverra opted to tow to Irwindale rather than endure more Bullring politics. Kingsland posted a 5th and 12th while DeGueverra was 15th and 16th. Its uncertain at this time if Vision will run the Open Comp at Vegas- maybe only with Davis, as Johnson has already won it 3 times and has nothing left to prove here. The word is that next year they will run only selected East and West races as well as some Truck and possibly Nationwide. If they sell off the Super Late stuff, it will be an opportunity for someone to get some top notch equipment.

Will Vision leave all the cheated up equipment in the cars and promise that the real competition won't be at the tracks? You just know there has to be questionable equipment and little competition if Dusty Davis is getting wins. Justin just crashes his way to the front, but Davis couldn't find his way to the front without a map, a GPS and a chauffer.
Kingsland ran off to Irwindale because he has run out of cars to wreak at the Bullring and his payback quota is so high, he may have to stay off the streets of Vegas. He'd make a good teammate to Johnson. They could call themselves "The Wreakers". "Slam Johnson" & Crash Kingsland"!!

An update on the results. It turns out that some guys had blistered the right rear tire during the first main, so they asked the track if they could put on a new tire for the second main. The track agreed, but then the drivers who had conserved tires complained that they didn't need tires. The track finally decided that anyone who put on a new tire would go to the rear of the field. Then as they lined up for the second main, the guys with new tires were allowed to start in their original positions. Johnson had opted to stay on old tires for track position while Davis put on new. Johnson led 37 laps until his old tires were shot and Davis got by for the win. Does Stafford have a twin brother working at Irwindale?
